Metal Louvre Noise Barrier-Changsha Wanli Expressway
Wanli Road is a major urban artery in Changsha, running about 16.5 kilometers from Fuyuan Road in the north to Xiangfu Road in the south. As part of the road’s rapid transformation into an urban expressway, we were brought in to handle the noise protection along the entire elevated stretch.

The Challenge
The project covers a lot of ground—the total length of the sound barriers we needed to install reached 33,445 meters. With the road running through busy parts of the city, the barriers had to be effective at blocking traffic noise while still fitting into the urban landscape without feeling like a solid, dark wall for miles.
Solution
To manage the noise for such a long stretch, we went with a practical and effective design:
- Vertical with Curved Top: We built the barriers to a height of 3.06 meters. The vertical structure does the heavy lifting for noise reduction, while the curved top helps deflect sound waves more efficiently away from nearby buildings.
- Semi-Transparent Design: We used a semi-transparent style to make sure light can still pass through. This makes the driving experience better and keeps the elevated road from looking too heavy or intrusive to the people living and working nearby.
- Full-Cycle Handling: Our team was responsible for the entire process—from manufacturing the barrier panels to the final installation on-site.
Execution and Outcomes
By delivering over 33 kilometers of these curved-top barriers, we successfully met the noise control requirements for the Wanli Road expressway. The project provides a quiet buffer for the city while maintaining a clean, modern look. It’s a solid example of a large-scale urban noise solution that just works.
