Fully-Semi Enclosed Noise Barrier Project-Shenzhen Metro

Shenzhen Metro Line 6 is a vital 37.6 km transit artery, designed for a maximum operational speed of 100 km/h. Navigating a complex landscape that includes 24.6 km of elevated tracks and significant tunnel segments, the project required a sophisticated, high-performance acoustic mitigation strategy. Our company was commissioned to implement a comprehensive noise control system across a 23.7 km stretch, ensuring operational efficiency and environmental compliance.

The Challenge

Operating at speeds of up to 100 km/h, the transit line generates intense structural vibration and airborne noise. The primary challenge was to integrate robust noise mitigation into the elevated and track-side segments without disrupting the high-speed operational requirements. The project demanded a modular, versatile system capable of maintaining acoustic performance in both open-air elevated sections and critical station transit zones.

Solution

To manage the noise profile of this high-speed line, we deployed an integrated acoustic engineering suite:

  • Full-Enclosure & Vertical Shielding: We installed 800 meters of fully enclosed barriers to neutralize noise at primary “hotspots,” complemented by 3,000 meters of vertical noise walls for standard track sections.
  • Track-Side & Station Precision: Over 4,000 square meters of track-side absorption panels were installed to dampen rolling noise, alongside 500 square meters of specialized station acoustic panels to ensure passenger comfort in transit hubs.

Aerodynamic Integrity: Each barrier was engineered to handle the wind loads and air pressure fluctuations created by high-speed trains, ensuring long-term structural reliability.

Outcomes

Our involvement spanned the entire 23.69 km scope of the noise barrier project, covering 10 stations and 9 track intervals. By delivering a combination of full-enclosure, vertical, and localized absorption systems, we provided a holistic solution that effectively mitigates transit noise. The project stands as a testament to our ability to deliver large-scale, high-precision acoustic infrastructure for modern, high-speed metropolitan rail networks.
