Chongqing Rail Transit Line 5 is a backbone of the city’s mountainous transit network, spanning a total length of 39.69 kilometers. Navigating the city’s unique topography, the line features a complex integration of underground tracks (31.11 km) and strategic elevated sections (8.11 km). This project represents a landmark achievement in urban environmental engineering, featuring the longest continuous fully enclosed sound barrier system in Chongqing’s rail history.

The Challenge
The southern segment of Line 5 presented a massive engineering challenge: a 7-kilometer elevated section stretching from Banshan to the terminus. Due to the high density of residential areas along this corridor, standard barriers were insufficient. The project required a record-breaking scale of noise mitigation that could provide comprehensive acoustic insulation while maintaining structural safety across an unprecedented continuous distance in a high-humidity, mountainous urban climate.
Solution
To meet these world-class infrastructure requirements, our company engineered and deployed a sophisticated full-enclosure shielding solution:
- Record-Breaking Scale: We successfully completed over 40,000 square meters of fully enclosed sound barriers, making this the largest and most extensive project of its kind in Chongqing.
- Total Acoustic Containment: The “Full Enclosure” design was specifically chosen to create a seamless acoustic tunnel, ensuring that noise from the 7km elevated section is completely neutralized before reaching the surrounding urban environment.
- Industrial Durability: Every component was manufactured to withstand the specific vibrations of high-frequency rail transit, ensuring long-term structural integrity and minimal maintenance over the 40,000 m² surface area.
