Metal Perforated Noise Barrier Project-Hangzhou to Shaoxing Intercity Railway

The Hangzhou-Shaoxing intercity railway project is a key construction initiative in Zhejiang Province. Spanning a significant mileage range from DK10+770.5 to DK15+100.8, including test lines, this infrastructure project integrated advanced acoustic solutions to ensure environmental harmony along the high-speed transit corridor.

The Challenge

As a priority provincial infrastructure project, the railway traverses diverse geographical and noise-sensitive areas. The primary challenge was to engineer a robust acoustic containment system capable of withstanding the aerodynamic pressures of high-speed rail while providing maximum noise reduction for nearby communities. The project required high-performance materials to ensure structural longevity and acoustic efficiency.

Solution

To address these noise control challenges, a comprehensive dual-barrier system was implemented:

  • Upright Sound Barrier: Designed and constructed over a length of 1770.7m. This system targets line-of-sight noise propagation in open-air sections of the track, effectively deflecting transit noise.
  • Closed Sound Barrier: A specialized double-track bridge fully enclosed structure spanning 1110m. This provides 360-degree acoustic encapsulation in high-density zones, minimizing environmental impact.

Execution and Outcomes

The project was completed according to design requirements, with attention to installation accuracy and construction quality. Coordination during construction helped address challenges in bridge sections and test line areas.

After completion, the system provided effective noise reduction for railway operation and reduced the impact on nearby areas. The barriers have shown stable performance and integrate well with the railway structure. The project has been generally well received and meets the expected functional requirements.
