Acrylic Panel noise barrier Project-Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge
The Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge, constructed by China Railway Bridge Bureau, is a landmark infrastructure project connecting the Hanyang and Wuchang districts in Wuhan. As the world’s largest span double-deck highway suspension bridge and a recipient of the prestigious China Construction Engineering Luban Award, the bridge required an advanced noise mitigation solution. Our company supplied and installed a 2.3 km high-performance sound barrier system to ensure acoustic comfort for surrounding urban areas while matching the high architectural and structural standards of this world-class bridge.

The Challenge
As a major double-deck highway suspension bridge crossing the Yangtze River, the Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge carries exceptionally heavy traffic loads between key urban interchanges. The primary challenge was installing a continuous, durable noise barrier system across a 2.3-kilometer stretch elevated over the river. The system needed to withstand high wind loads and structural vibrations inherent to long-span suspension bridges, while providing consistent noise reduction to protect nearby residential and commercial communities in Hanyang and Wuchang.
Solution
To meet the stringent structural and acoustic requirements of this award-winning infrastructure project, a custom noise barrier solution was engineered, manufactured, and deployed:
- Total Installation Length: A total length of 2.3 kilometers of sound barriers was engineered and installed along the designated bridge sections.
- Structural Resilience: Engineered to withstand severe wind forces and dynamic bridge movements associated with large-span suspension structures.
- Acoustic Performance: Utilized specialized noise-reduction panels designed to absorb and deflect high-volume traffic noise from multi-lane double-deck expressways.
- End-to-End Delivery: Managed full-scope delivery, from precision manufacturing of specialized barrier components to professional installation on site.
Execution and Outcomes
The successful implementation of the 2.3 km sound barrier system on the Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge has significantly reduced traffic noise transmission to adjacent urban zones. By integrating seamless acoustic protection with the structural demands of a national Luban Award-winning landmark, the project enhances urban living quality while supporting Wuhan’s vital arterial transportation network.
